My GerIta headcanon

Believe it or not, Italy is the one who usually takes the lead in the relationship. Germany’s actually a pretty shy and awkward boyfriend (think Buon San Valentino)…so Italy tends to initiate the hugs, the kisses, etc. Italy was also the one to ask Germany out.

Also, Italy thinks it’s the cutest thing in the world whenever he manages to make Germany turn red with his playful affection.

Before he met Feliciano, Ludwig used to hate his own attraction towards men, thinking he was sick and weird for having that kind of feelings. However, falling in love with Feliciano made him realize that it doesn’t matter who you love, as long as your love is true.

When Ludwig and Feliciano get into a big fight, Feliciano leaves the house and stays with Lovino for awhile to cool down and think. Lovino’s always glad to take his brother in, because he’ll try to get his stupid fratello to finally dump that godamn potato eater.

Ludwig on the other hand is at home sulking and probably getting drunk and feeling like an ass and so he calls Gilbert for advice and Gil is just like dude you are a sad, sad child. Just call ‘im and meet up and work it out jeez.

So Ludwig will call Lovino’s house and then Feliciano will realize that Ludwig is calling because Lovino is swearing louder and more excessive in Italian than usual, so he’ll wrestle his older brother for the phone and they’ll talk about trying to work things out.

It could take either a few minutes to a few days until they actually get over themselves and work it out, and when they do they calmly listen to each other and share apologies and hug and kiss and all that romantic crap and go home.

THEN ENGAGE IN GLORIOUS MAKE-UP SEX. The end.

Despite his overall seriousness, Ludwig does in fact have a playful side. And when the mood strikes him, he is not one to hesitate discretely tickling the Italian’s sides under the pretense of “not knowing” what the light touches do to the easily tickled Feliciano. Even Ludwig has trouble keeping up his poker face during these instances.

It took very long for Feliciano to admit to himself he was in love with Ludwig. He did notice very early he felt very deeply towards Ludwig, but remembering the promise he gave to his first love, he tried to convince himself that his feelings were just friendship. However, the events of a certain Valentine’s Day forced Feliciano to think seriously about their relationship and realize what his feelings really were.

Ludwig has jealousy issues.

Whether it’s as harmless as seeing Feliciano interact with other nations through casual conversation, or noticing Francis staring at his cute little ass, Ludwig would struck with the strange urge to stand next to the Italian and glare at everyone menacingly until they backed off make sure no one did any funny business, but at the same time his self control commands him to give Feliciano some room and let him enjoy the presence of others.

But nonetheless, Ludwig doesn’t like to share.

As Italy is friends with, well, mostly everyone, it upsets him when Germany always stays at home and doesn’t make friends with any of the other nations. Italy has even gone far enough to send Germany to random locations for “errands” where he has also sent another nation to “accidentally” meet up with him. It’s usually America or France.

(if Germany does try to leave and come back home, Italy locks him out.)

For every anniversary and Valentine’s Day, almost like a tradition and a bit of a joke, Feliciano and Ludwig have dinner at the same restaurant they went to when the “big misunderstanding” happened.
